June

IFSEC and Firex, 20-22 June, London

IFSEC and FIREX ran side by side on 20-22 June, and were both very successful in terms of the number of visitors and the interest shown in LPCB listed fire and security products and services. The LPCB Attack Zone at IFSEC, in which physical security attach tests were carried out on a range of products by BRE security experts, was a new feature and a highlight of this year's event. Security & Counter Terror Expo, 3-4 May

This focused security exhibition is aimed at the high end physical security protection needed in the fight against crime and terrorism. The LPCB brand has a high profile in this market and there was strong interest in our physical security, ballistics and security assessment certification standards and services. See more

Fire & Safety India, 6-8 April, Mumbai 

In April BRE Global attended Fire & Safety India at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai.

There is a rapidly growing demand for fire protection equipment and technology across India, with the fire and safety equipment market expected to reach around US$5 billion by the end of 2019 (India Fire & Safety Equipment Market Forecast & Opportunities). Our new LPS 1666 standard for LPCB approval of direct low pressure application fixed fire suppression systems, was of particular interest to visitors at the BRE Global stand where we were kept busy discussing LPCB listed products and services.

Security & Policing, 7-9 March, Farnborough, UK

Security & Policing is an annual Home Office event held at Farnborough. It is supported by DIT (Dept. for International Trade), which arranges incoming high level delegations from countries across the world wishing to do business with UK companies, and to draw on their security expertise. Middle East Electricity, Dubai, 14-16 February

Middle East Electricity (MEE) is a major show covering some 65,000 sqm and housing more than 1,600 exhibitors from 60 countries. Many of our Red Book listed clients sell into the Middle East and our presence at MEE provided a great opportunity to promote these listings, and to give support to the Red Book client who were also exhibiting. Intersec Dubai, 22-24 January 2017

Intersec is the largest fire and security exhibition in the world, hosting more than 1,280 exhibitors and welcoming visitors from 127 countries. We had two stands – one in the Fire Hall and the other in the Security Hall. The show was very busy over all three days, reflecting the major projects underway in the region, such as the World Cup stadia in Qatar and the Dubai 2020 World Fair. Read more

November

UK Security Expo 2016

BRE Global attended the first UK Security Expo at Olympia in London on 30 November-1 December, to promote the LPCB Fire and Security certification brand. The exhibition was supported by the Home Office and other government security departments, and was opened by former UK Security Minister, Admiral Lord West. Read more

Big 5 International Building and Construction Show

BRE Global again exhibited at the prestigious Big 5 in Dubai on 21-24 November. With more than 3,100 exhibitors showcasing their products and services to a region boasting a vibrant construction pipeline of £1.5+ trillion worth of projects, this was a very busy show! Read more

Fire and Security Shanghai, China 9–11 November

The 12th Shanghai International Fire & Security Technology Equipment Exhibition was held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. International Director Graham Orme and China Country Manager Ming Stone manned the exhibition stand and were pleased to see many of our LPCB listed clients attending the show.

Security Essen 2016, 27-30 September, Essen Germany 

Security Essen is a bi-annual event covering Fire Prevention, Cyber Security, Mechanical Security Systems, Electronic Security and Services and Perimeter Security. Our attendance at this show is to promote LPCB listed companies, raise LPCB brand awareness and support EFSG.

EFSG comprises a number of European Certification Bodies and their associated test houses that work together to facilitate the acceptance of each other’s test results, thereby offering their clients the opportunity to obtain multiple quality marks with minimal duplication and cost.

Enquiries regarding new approvals ranged from fire doors, security doors, locks, fire alarm panels, linear heat detectors, gas detectors, wireless fire detection systems, gas systems, watermist systems and safes.

FIRE SOUTH 2016, 21-22 September, Chennai, India

FIRE SOUTH is a regional edition of India’s leading fire and safety show “FIRE INDIA” which attracts more than 15,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors. The market revenues of India's fire &safety equipment market are expected to reach USD4.94 billion by the end of 2019.

FIRE SOUTH hosted 105 exhibitors some of whom were LPCB listed companies including Ceasefire, Hochiki, Agni Devices and Agni Controls. Major specifiers such as the Director of State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, Telangana, Hyderabad called by the stand to discuss the testing and certification services offered by BRE Global. Firex International, 21 23 June, London ExCel

As in previous years, the LPCB Red Book Pavilion was a prominent feature of Firex International at London Excel.  This year we also had a Pavilion in the IFSEC show which is reported below. The first two days were extremely busy, which was evident in the level of ambient noise! Even the EU Referendum and torrential rain which closed several tube stations in the area didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the exhibitors and visitors. As always, our Red Book listings were of interest to specifiers such as insurers, facilities managers and consultants. Read more

 

IFSEC, 21 23 June, London ExCel

IFSEC is the biggest security show in Europe with over 600 exhibitors and an estimated 27,000 visitors. This year LPCB had a Red Book Pavilion in the perimeter security section, where our experts from the physical security and electronic security teams were on hand to answer visitors’ questions. We attend a number of UK security shows that are mainly invitation only – a key benefit of this show is the access it gives to European manufacturers and specifiers of security equipment.

LPS 1175 Intruder resistant building components, strongpoints, security enclosures and free-standing barriers, was widely discussed and visitors were very interested to learn that we now offer certification to a range of intruder alarm, access control and alarm transmission products – see here for further information. 

IFSEC TV conducted some video interviews to collate exhibitor feedback. David Jones, Director, Morgan Marine and Richard Flint, LPCB Physical Security Certification Scheme Manager were interviewed and you can view the videos by clicking on their names.

NFPA, 13 - 15 June, Las Vegas

The NFPA Conference and Exposition was held 13-16 June in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Conference Centre. We exhibited jointly with VdS to promote the special working relationship between the two Certification Bodies, who are members of the European Fire and Security Group (EFSG) now under the Chairmanship of Graham Orme, LPCB International Director. It was a good opportunity for us to meet and support our current Red Book Listed clients, and to promote the listings to conference delegates. A high level of interest was shown, particularly in two of our new certification schemes:

•  LPS 1283 – Watermist systems for use in commercial low hazard occupancies
•  LPS 1655 – Personal protection water mist systems

Fire & Safety, 21-23 March, Mumbai

In April BRE Global attended Fire & Safety India at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. At the associated conference, Sarah Colwell, Director of Fire Suppression at BRE Global, presented on “Testing and Certification of Fire Suppression Systems”. With fire equipment manufacturers from around the world exhibiting, visitors included fire officers (international and state), consultants, training institutes and major specifiers. ISNR, 15-17 March, Abu Dhabi

ISNR (International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience) was held at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi comprising 530 exhibitors from 57 countries.  It hosted 200 high-level official delegations and government buyers from 20 countries. Read more

Intersec 2016, Dubai International Exhibition Center, Dubai UAE - January 17-19 2016.
Intersec is a very vibrant exhibition with visitors from across the Middle East and Africa. Construction projects across the region draw in an ever increasing number of exhibitors and many of these are Red Book listed. We hads two stands again in 2016 to support to our fire and security listed companies in separate specialist halls. Read more

China Fire 2015

BRE Global attented the China Fire exhibition in Beijing. This large and very well attended show gave us the chance to meet many of our existing customers, as well as potential new ones and was attended by Graham Orme (International Director, LPCB) and Ming Stone (LPCB Country Manager for China).

Fire India 2015, Delhi, 5-7 October
The 225 fire, security and safety industry companies exhibiting at Fire India included 60 fire exhibitors. 26 of these were LPCB approved and proudly displayed their certification marks on their stands.

Dr Sarah Colwell, Head of Suppression at BRE Global, and Kamil Hamid, Country Manager for India, attended the event and visited all of the LPCB approved exhibitors. Sarah presented a paper on ‘Codes and Standards for fire protection systems’ at the Conference, and also presented two new certificates, one to UTC for Argonite gas system and components and the other to Ceasefire for their kitchen suppression system.

Firex/IFSEC 2015,   16 - 18 June, London Excel, UK.

As FIREX and IFSEC were co-located into the same hall at Excel this year, we chose to promote our fire and security listings on the one stand, the LPCB Pavilion. The show was very busy across all three days and our technical experts were kept busy answering queries from new contacts and also from our existing clients. Read more

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Expo, 22 - 24 June, Chicago, USA.

The NFPA Conference and Exposition, the USA’s main fire related event, was held this year at McCormick Place in Chicago. We exhibited jointly with VdS, promoting our agreements under the European Fire and Security Group (EFSG), which is Chaired by Graham Orme, LPCB International Director. We also highlighted the benefits of LPCB approval to manufacturers exporting to Europe and the Middle East, and promoted the current listings to organisations managing building portfolios outside of the USA.

IFCEM 2015 Fire Conference and Exhibition, 5 - 7 May 2015, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Graham Orme, BRE Global International Director, received a souvenir from Datuk Wira Hj Wan Mohd Nor Hj Ibrahim, Director of Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia at the IFCEM 2015 Fire Conference and Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur  (upper photograph).

Also in the photograph, from left to right, are: Josephine Wong, Regional Manager for LPCB – ASEAN, HG Tay, Deputy President of the Institution of Fire Engineers, Malaysia branch, and Teh Khay Leong,President of the Malaysian Fire Protection Association.

In addition to exhibiting at IFCEM, Graham and Josephine visited BSN – Badan Standardisasi Nasional (Indonesian Standards Institute) to discuss the use of LPCB certificated products in Indonesia. They also attended the Big 5 construction exhibition in Jakarta.

At the end of May Josephine attended the Indofirex 2015 exhibition in Jakarta.

Counter Terror (CTX), 21 - 22 April, Olympia, London. 

BRE Global had a stand at  CTX 2015 at Olympia in London on 21-22 April. Our physical security specialists were on the stand and were kept extremely busy answering technical questions related to:
LPS 1175 - Requirements and testing procedures for the LPCB approval and listing of intruder resistant building components, strongpoints, security enclosures and free-standing barriers, and

LPS 1270 -Requirements and testing procedures for the LPCB approval and listing of intruder resistant security glazing units.

Both of these very successful standards are in demand for the protection of critical locations – and assets requiring such protection are continually emerging. Security and Policing Exhibition (Home Office Event), 10 - 12 March, FIVE, Farnborough, UK.

 

UK and overseas representatives from government security departments and security organisations, utility companies, the police and MOD, were among those visiting the LPCB stand during this event at Farnborough Air Base on 10-12 March.

 

The exhibition, organised by CAST - the Centre for Applied Science and Technology - of the Home Office, is attended by invitation only as the companies exhibiting provide front line support to protect critical national infrastructure against crime and terrorism. Representatives from equivalent foreign security organisations attend through UKT&I, and we received many of these at the LPCB stand. Email griggr@bre.co.uk for more information.

Secured by Design National Training Event 2015, 25 - 26 February, Holiday Inn, Stratford Upon Avon, UK.

 

Our security systems team attended this year’s Secured by Design training event in Stratford-upon-Avon on 25-26 February. Secured by Design advocates the physical security standards published by LPCB (such as LPS 1175), and advises its national network of police Crime Prevention Design Advisors to recommend the use of these standards to those involved in construction projects. The event attracted several security product manufacturers and service providers, including a number with LPCB approval. Email griggr@bre.co.uk for more information.

Intersec 2015, 18 - 20 January, Dubai World Trade Center, Dubai, UAE.

Opened by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (son of the Ruler of Dubai), Intersec featured 1,237 exhibitors and welcomed more than 25,000 visitors from 131 countries. 

Intersec 2015The LPCB stand in the Security hall fielded many enquiries from specifiers from across the region, particularly those involved in oil and gas and other critical infrastructures, interested in sourcing security products approved by LPCB to standards such as LPS 1175. Members of the security team also met representatives of the UAE and Oman Ministries of Interior as well as representatives of a number of security consultancies and architects operating in the region. The LPCB stand in the Fire hall was extremely busy with enquiries from specifiers, manufacturers and suppliers from across the world. Our status as a laboratory and certification body approved by UAE Civil Defence is crucial to the recognition of the LPCB Certification Mark in the area and our position opposite the UAE Civil Defence stand helped to underline this.
