What is Approval?

Approval means confirmation by an expert industrial third party that products and systems meet and continue to meet the appropriate standards.

Approval provides a higher degree of confidence in the performance of a product than a ‘test’, as it involves regular auditing to ensure compliance with the prevailing standards, (which are subject to regular revision).

This ongoing auditing process also helps to confirm that the product on the market is exactly the same as the product which was originally tested and approved.

It is also significantly different to CE marking which is not a quality mark, but a manufacturers declaration that a product meets the essential requirements for Europe.

We believe our marks stand for something special - they are true 'quality marks' which are recognised across the world.

Certification, through regular audits, ensures that the product or service continues to comply with the standard.

Our approval process involves rigorous assessments and testing of products and services to ensure that they meet and continue to meet quality standards set by experts including, manufacturers, installers, designers, clients, regulators, insurers, engineers and scientists.

BRE Global (which incorporates LPCB) is a Notified Body (no. 0832) for the Construction Products Directive (CPD), Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) Marine Equipment Directive (MED). BRE Global/LPCB can therefore act as a one stop shop for the CE marking requirements of many products. For entry into the Red Book they must meet LPCB approval requirements.

So, why our approval? Well it's...
• Risk assessment based
• Developed by experts
• Recognised by regulators, major clients and insurers
• Built upon independent research by BRE

Benefits of our approval

Our approval helps ensure, through regular audits, that the product continues to comply with the relevant standards, which are themselves, subject to revision.

This can help ensure compliance with legislation, assist in market entry and customer confidence.
The auditing process also helps to confirm that the product available on the marketplace is exactly the same as the product which was originally tested and approved.

Approvals benefit everyone in the supply chain, from the manufacturer to the end client because it gives peace of mind that the product has met the standard.
