Fire Detection and Alarms

LPCB has been certifying fire alarm and detection equipment for over 30 years; has one of the most comprehensively equipped laboratories in the world for testing these devices; continues to invest in new equipment to provide test facilities to meet emerging technologies in the fire detection field and our approval process is undertaken by a highly qualified team of expert scientists and engineers.

Products must undergo a set of rigorous tests to ensure they meet, and continue to meet, quality standards set by a team of industry experts. LPCB undertakes approvals work to all parts of EN 54. The list of products includes, but is not limited to:-

  • Alarm receiving centres
  • Alarm transmission systems
  • Alarm warning devices
  • Compatability assessment for system components
  • Control and indicating equipment and power supply equipment
  • Detectors - smoke, heat, beam, CO, flame, aspirating and multi-sensor detectors
  • Line units
  • Manual call points
  • Signalling Systems
  • Voice alarm systems
  • Wireless detection systems

We can also approve fire extinguishing panels to EN12094-1.

Combining LPCB approval with CE marking (including the Marine Equipment Directive) differentiates manufacturers as meeting the minimum European requirements for CE marking while demonstrating maximum commitment to ongoing quality, plus the audit visits can be arranged to cover both marks saving time and money.

Where manufacturers are looking to undertake development or pre-assessment work the laboratories at LPCB offer test services which will help the manufacturer understand how thier product is performing offering them the opportunity to resolve problems and establish how their product can meet the requirements of the standard before formal submission for approval.
