How to use Red Book Live
We have redesigned the website to make it more intuitive and easier to use. We have reduced the number of clicks required to search for Products, Services and Companies Listed in the LPCB Red Book Database. The website now uses ‘drop down menus' for navigation. There are five main navigation menu's.
Information and News; In this area, you can find out about our History, Governance, our Marks, Suspensions and Withdrawals, Latest News, Jobs and details of how to Contact us.
Search our Listings; This is the area of the site where all of the Products and Services are Listed. You can search our database by Product, Service, Company or check whether a certificate is valid. You can also search by Red Book section. There are more specific details on searching RedBookLive below.
Certification Schemes; In this area, you read about the Certification Schemes run by BRE Global and get an understanding of the schemes which Products and Services must comply with to be listed in the Red Book.
Knowledge Base; In this area you will find information on training and events, download copies of Loss Prevention Standards, BREEAM, Greenbooklive, Sustainability and order free copies of the Red Book.
Site Map; In this area you can view a list of all the headings taken from the drop down menu at a glance.
Home Page; Returns you to our home page.
Searching RedBookLive
We have improved the search functions on redbooklive to make it easier to search for approved products or services. There are 3 ways to do this;
1. Search using Drop Down Menu for Products and Services
Using the ‘Search our Listings' menu, the following product groupings can be searched.
Passive Fire Products
Fire Detection Products
Fire Resistant Cables
Fire Suppression Products
Security Products and Systems
Installation, Service and Maintenance
Management Systems
Environmental Schemes
Construction Products
LPCB Netherlands
These Groupings are further subdivided (in a second level menu) into specific product areas. This can be done by hovering your mouse over the first level menu item. For example, if you hover on Security systems, a second level menu will appear with Electronic Security and Physical Security.
To search within any product area, click the drop down menu above 'Search our Listings', then click on the area you would like to search. You can narrow a search by entering a product, company, certificate number, address or postcode of a company. Alternatively just click on the 'search' button to return to all of the results within your section search.
2. Find a product or service by certificate number
Again, using the ‘Search our Listings' menu, you can search our database if you know the certificate number of the Product, Service or Company. Simply select ‘Search by Certificate Number' in the drop down menu. Then enter the certificate number in the required field and click on the 'search' button.
3. Search by Red Book Section
This search function allows the user to browse the red Book by ‘Part' and by ‘Section'. Therefore, if you want to find all of the products listed in Part 3, (Fire Detection and Alarm Systems) Section 7 (Sounders), simply select ‘Fire detection and Alarm Systems' on the drop down menu (second level). This will bring you to the search page for this section. Then select ‘Sounders' from the drop down list and click on search. You can narrow the search by entering a product name, company name or certificate number in the required fields.
4. Search by company name
Under the ‘Search our Listings’ menu, you can search our database if you know the name of the company. Simply select ‘Search by Company Name’ in the drop down menu then enter the name of the company and click on the ‘search’ button.
5. Global Search
On the top left hand corner of every page there is a ‘Search' box. This search function allows you to search the content of the website for any keyword entered. It will allow you to search the Red Book Database for ‘Products' or ‘Companies'. Therefore, if you would like to search the database for a particular company, enter the company name in the box and click the enter button. The search results will categorise the results into; Main Pages (website content), Products and Companies (Listed in the database). Under each of these headings it will list the number of results found for each of these headings. Click on the number to view the results.
