“Star performer” at IFSEC 2017 returns in 2018

Following its hugely successful introduction in 2017, the Attack Testing Zone will be expanded at IFSEC 2018, providing dramatic and energetic demonstrations of the capabilities of security solutions. “The Attack Testing Zone was the star performer at IFSEC 2017,” says Gerry Dunphy, Brand Director, IFSEC & Firex International, “with visiting customers standing four deep around the area just to get a view”. Promoting LPCB listed products in India

BRE Global representatives and partners from cable manufacturer Ducab, organised and attended two seminars in India last month. They gave presentations and answered questions on LPCB certificated products, certification standards and issues involving cables, during the seminars at the Delhi Metro, which serves Delhi and its satellite cities, and the Lucknow Metro in Uttar Pradesh. Fire India

BRE Global had a stand at the 12th Fire India in Mumbai on 7-9 September. Representatives from our Suppression team, including Sarah Colwell, Director, Joe Milton and Caner Ozgul – along with Kamil Hamid, BRE Country Manager for India – were kept busy at this well-attended event. Members of the team also took the opportunity to attend a number of client meetings and factory visits in the area.

UK Construction Week 2017

A strong BRE presence at UK Construction Week (10-12 October at NEC Birmingham) included three presentations on important fire issues:

 

Airports: Fire and Resilience presented by Jeremy Ockenden. Jeremy discussed the changing faces of airports, fire regulations, and key issues involved in airport robustness and resilience, such as fire risks and their assessment and mitigation.

Sprinklers in Domestic Dwellings – the Challenges and Benefits by Corrine Williams. Corinne presented the experiences and lessons learnt from a recent fire sprinkler pilot study project carried out for the Welsh Government.

Preventing False Alarms by Raman Chaggar. Raman discussed his latest findings from research projects aimed at reducing false alarms, including work on using multi-sensor detectors.

Door survey presents ‘alarming lack’ of knowledge

The research undertaken during Fire Door Safety Week found that almost half of Hampshire adults don’t know the difference between fire and regular doors. The survey also found that a similar figure have seen fire doors illegally propped open. Read more

Housing association to fit sprinklers in all high-rises

A housing trust in the north-west of England has said that it will be fitting sprinklers to all 17 of the high-rise towers that the organisation manages. Fire safety experts and the regional fire and rescue services were consulted about the plans. Read more
