Watermist certifications

BRE Global is busily working through a number of applications for certification of watermist components. Telesto Sp. z.o.o. received an LPCB certificate from Dr Louise Jackman of BRE Global, after the first International Water Mist seminar in Poland on 15 November. See the Telesto entry here.

Transferring ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 approvals to the 2015 versions

The International Standards Organisation (ISO) will withdraw ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 with effect from 15 September 2018. Be part of the LPCB Red Book Live Pavilion at FIREX International

LPCB has negotiated exclusive exhibition stand packages for companies with certificated products, and will again be hosting the LPCB Red Book Live Pavilion at FIREX International 2018 on 19-21 June at ExCeL London. Multi-sensor research project completed

After investigations into false fire alarms showed that they can be reduced with the greater use of multi-sensor detectors, tests have been conducted at BRE on thirty-five optical heat multi-sensor detectors - representing the full range available in the marketplace. Written and video reports on their performance will be issued in the New Year. The research has been supported by the Fire Industry Association, Fire Detector manufacturers and the BRE Trust. Jean-Gabriel Sans retires from EFSG Board of Management

Jean-Gabriel Sans, Technical Manager of the European Fire and Security Group (EFSG), has retired from the EFSG Board of Management after 21 years of service. He was presented with a souvenir plaque by Graham Orme, Chairman of EFSG. Jean-Gabriel is also retiring from his position as Director for Mechanical protection and electronic alarm systems CNPP, France. We wish him a long and happy retirement.

Gilgen secures Louvre Abu Dhabi

The new $1billion Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi was officially opened on 8 November. The 260,000 sq ft structure houses thousands of priceless works of arts from around the World. It incorporates LPCB approved security shutters by Gilgen Door Systems, designed to provide high levels of physical protection and operational efficiency for the museum. Read more.

Promoting security standards

Richard Flint, Physical Security Technical and Business Development Manager at BRE Global, has recently been promoting the use of security standards at two important international security events:

ASIS Middle East 2017 Security Conference & Exhibition in Bahrain on 5-7 November, where Richard presented on critical infrastructure protection.

Designing Out Crime 2017 in Oslo on 9 November, where Richard presented on the use of standards for defining effective security measures. Read more

IFSEC 2018 set to focus on global security challenges

The IFSEC event will transform ‘from a pure play physical security show into a large scale integrated security event and high-level summit’. IFSEC stated that the event will take a ‘new industry role’ in ‘addressing critical global security challenges’. Read more

False alarms prompt fire service response

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has responded to a deluge of false alarm calls this week by issuing advice to local businesses to check their alarms. Fire crews from the region attended eight false alarm calls on the 13 and 14 November. Several of the calls were at business premises caused by fumes from cooking. Read more
