Supplementary guidance on external fire spread

A new information paper (IP 3/16) supplements the guidance given in BRE report BR 187, External fire spread: building separation and boundary distances, to ensure that the guidance is valid for some of the newer features found in modern buildings. Read more

Middle East Regional Manager appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Gaynor as the BRE Global Regional Manager – Middle East. Edward will be based in Dubai and we will be establishing a Representative Office in the Dubai Airport Freezone. He will start work with us on 5 June. Edward has been working for Promat in Dubai for the last 6 years. He holds a degree in Fire Safety Engineering. After the office is established we will advise you of address and contact details.

Australia adopts British Standard for cladding fire performance

Australia is the latest country to adopt British Standard BS 8414, in the new AS 5113 standard for determining fire performance characteristics and classification of external walls of buildings. This adds to the growing international recognition of BS 8414 as a robust means of determining the fire performance characteristics of external cladding systems. Read more

Queen’s Award for LPCB approved manufacturer

Trimetals the manufacturer of LPCB approved secure bicycle and motorcycle stores, has been named as one of "Britain's brightest businesses" in this year’s Queen's Awards for Enterprise, the UK's most prestigious business awards for outstanding companies or individuals. The Award recognises Trimetals’ achievement in international trade.

NFPA conference and Expo

The NFPA Conference and Expo will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre in Las Vegas on 13-16 June. We have invited VdS to join us on the stand in order to promote our agreements under the European Fire and Security Group (EFSG). More

FIREX International and IFSEC

A reminder that BRE Global will have Red Book Pavilions at both IFSEC and FIREX at London’s ExCeL on 21-23 June 2016 – Stand Nos. B160 and C1950 respectively. Experts will be on the stand each day to discuss listings and any queries you may have. There are still two spaces available in the IFSEC Pavilion at a reduced rate, for more information click here.

Fire & Safety India 2016

In April BRE Global attended Fire & Safety India at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. At the associated conference, Sarah Colwell, Director of Fire Suppression at BRE Global, presented on “Testing and Certification of Fire Suppression Systems”. With fire equipment manufacturers from around the world exhibiting, visitors included fire officers (international and state), consultants, training institutes and major specifiers.
