Event reports

Firex International

As in previous years, the LPCB Red Book Pavilion was a prominent feature of Firex International at London Excel on 21-23 June. This year we also had a Pavilion in the IFSEC show which is reported below. The first two days were extremely busy, which was evident in the level of ambient noise! As ever, our Red Book listings were of interest to specifiers such as insurers, facilities managers and consultants. Read more

IFSEC International, London Excel, 21-23 June

IFSEC is the biggest security show in Europe with over 600 exhibitors and an estimated 27,000 visitors. This year LPCB had a Red Book Pavilion in the perimeter security section, where our experts from the physical security and electronic security teams were on hand to answer visitors’ questions. We attend a number of UK security shows that are mainly invitation only - a key benefit of this show is the access it gives to European manufacturers and specifiers of security equipment.

LPS 1175 Intruder resistant building components, strongpoints, security enclosures and free-standing barriers, was widely discussed and visitors were very interested to learn that we now offer certification to a range of intruder alarm, access control and alarm transmission products - see here for further information.

The NFPA Conference and Exposition was held 13-16 June in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Conference Centre. We exhibited jointly with VdS to promote the special working relationship between the two Certification Bodies, who are members of the European Fire and Security Group (EFSG) now under the Chairmanship of Graham Orme, LPCB International Director.

It was a good opportunity for us to meet and support our current Red Book Listed clients, and to promote the listings to conference delegates. A high level of interest was shown, particularly in two of our new certification schemes:

LPS 1283 – Watermist systems for use in commercial low hazard occupancies

LPS 1655 – Personal protection water mist systems
