Grenfell update: large-scale fire test programme on cladding systems

BRE has been commissioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government to conduct a series of BS8414 large-scale tests to establish how different types of Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) panels, in combination with different types of insulation, behave in a fire. The test reports are available here.

New Loss Prevention Standard for ductwork systems

Proper maintenance and cleaning of ductwork minimises fire risk and maximises hygiene and functionality. BRE Global has launched a new standard - LPS 2084 - for companies carrying out inspection, cleaning and maintenance of ductwork systems that may be contaminated with combustible deposits. Read more

Planning’s role in safety and security

A letter from Steve Quartermain, Chief Planning Officer for England, recently reminded planning authorities of the important role of planning in delivering a safe and secure built environment. LPS 1175 Issue 7 for Premier Security Solutions

Premier Security Solutions MD, Neil Johns, has been presented with an LPS 1175 Issue 7 certificate for the company’s range of SBD2 hinged security doorsets (listed here), which includes single leaf inward and outward opening doorsets with side and/or over panels. FIREX and IFSEC, Excel London - 20-22 June 2017

IFSEC and FIREX ran side by side on 20-22 June, and were both very successful in terms of the number of visitors and the interest shown in LPCB listed fire and security products and services.
