First hotel to gain SABRE security certification

The St. Regis Astana in Kazakhstan has become the world’s first hotel development to achieve LPCB certification under SABRE, the new security certification scheme for buildings and infrastructure. SABRE enables building owners and occupiers to evaluate their security risk management, and communicate their security credentials to the market. Read more

Fire Prevention Plan guidance for waste site operators

There has been an increase in waste recycling site fires caused by self-heating. New Environment Agency fire prevention plan guidance puts strict limits on waste pile sizes to reduce this risk. BRE has developed a training course to help waste site operators to produce compliant Fire Prevention Plans. Read more

Italian manufacturer extends its LPCB certification

INIM Electronics of Italy has achieved LPCB certification of PRAESDIA216 Fire detection panel to:
EN54-2 - Control and indicating equipment
EN54-4 - Power supply equipment
EN54-21 - Alarm transmission and fault warning routing equipment EN12094-1 - Components for gas extinguishing systems – automatic electrical devices for extinction and delay commands and management.

This modular system includes a graphic colour touchscreen and mapping facility that makes it suitable for properties ranging from small businesses to large premises, such as shopping centres, airports and hotels. Cooperation between the INIM technical team and BRE Global Fire detection team has enabled this innovative product to successfully navigate the rigorous testing schedule. More information

Visit to India and Sri Lanka

Graham Orme, International Director for BRE Global and Kamil Hamid, BRE Global Country Manager for India, recently visited India and Sri Lanka. They met with Dr Misra, Director of the Delhi Fire Service, the immediate past Director Mr A K Sharma, Mr D K Shami, the Fire Advisor to the Indian Government and others involved with the Indian fire industry. In Sri Lanka they met with the Colombo Fire Department and Construction Industry Development Authority.

Big 5 International Building and Construction Show

BRE Global again exhibited at the prestigious Big 5 in Dubai on 21-24 November. With more than 3,100 exhibitors showcasing their products and services to a region boasting a vibrant construction pipeline of £1.5+ trillion worth of projects, this was a very busy show! Read more

UK Security Expo 2016

BRE Global attended the first UK Security Expo at Olympia in London on 30 November-1 December, to promote the LPCB Fire and Security certification brand. The exhibition was supported by the Home Office and other government security departments, and was opened by former UK Security Minister, Admiral Lord West.

The wide range of conference sessions covered: transport, major events, designing out terrorism, global counter terrorism, protecting crowded places and critical national infrastructure. BRE Global gave presentations on the new SABRE security risk assessment scheme and on developments to the physical security scheme - LPS 1175, and promoted our ballistics scheme. Read more

In the news

Welsh pilot study report

The Welsh government has funded the fitting of sprinklers in 175 homes in twelve projects covering a variety of different housing forms. Experience and learning from these pilot projects has been published in a report by BRE. Read more

Sprinklers save business from devastation

A business in Bicester, Oxfordshire, was saved from devastation after a fire broke out in the compressor room. When firefighters arrived they found the sprinkler system had activated and staff had been evacuated. The fire was extinguished and the parts of the site that were unaffected returned to normal operation. Read more
